In order to achieve my Masters, I was required to complete a Capstone Project. In selecting a topic, I was allowed to focus on any subject or area that could potentially benefit my classroom. While my colleagues focused on various content areas, I took an entirely different approach. Before any child can truly learn, they need to feel safe and appreciated. By focusing on a strong classroom community, I observed increased academic performance, academic motivation, friendships, attendance rates and positive behaviors.
