ABOUT MISS KERNER
Growing up, I had the most incredible mother, who just so happened to be an elementary school teacher! The impact she had on her students and vise-versa was purely magical. In my eyes, teachers were heroic but never what I envisioned being myself.
Once I graduated Stoughton High School, I began my undergraduate journey at the University of New Hampshire as a Chemistry major. While I have always loved the sciences, I quickly realized Chemistry was not a fulfilling career choice for me.
During my sophomore year of college, I volunteered to be a reading tutor at a nearby elementary school and my life changed forever. I immediately fell in love with teaching and knew exactly what I was going to do for the rest of my life!
During my time at UNH, I had several internship opportunities at various elementary schools and child centers. From these experiences, my teaching skills blossomed and my love for education deepened.

Upon graduating from the University of New Hampshire, Summa Cum Laude, I worked as a substitute teacher in three school systems. This opportunity allowed me to experience various teaching roles, working with children of all ages and abilities.
The following September, I was able to secure a special educational assistant position at the Igo Elementary School. My primary role was to differentiate instruction in order to make the curriculum accessible to all students. From this experience, my behavioral management and accommodation skills flourished.
After spending two years at the Igo, I obtained a grade 5 long-term substitute teaching position at the Richardson Olmsted Elementary School for the entire 2015-2016 school year. This appointment was so successful, I was offered a permanent spot as a grade 4 classroom teacher! I taught 4th grade within the same school for following 7 years.
Two years ago, I realized how much I missed the Foxborough Schools. When the Ahern Middle School posted 5th and 6th grade openings, I knew I had to try and re-join my dream district. I have grown tremendously the past 2 years as a 6th grade math/science teacher within the Ahern Middle School, personally and professionally.
The past 13 years in the Foxborough and Easton School Districts have been invaluable. I could not have wished for better colleagues or better communities to begin my career with! I cannot wait to see what the future will bring!
