STEAMing Ahead!

We are proud to announce that we have begun our S.T.E.A.M. activities. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. These activities encourage the use of exploration, cooperation, problem solving and communication skills.

Our first project, The Cup Stacking Challenge, involved very simple materials and instructions. Groups of 3 or 4 students were given 6 plastic cups, and elastic with 4 strings attached. Groups had to work together using materials to manipulate the cups into six different configurations or stacks. The only stipulations were: 1. Hands could not touch the cups only the elastic. 2. Hands had to be at the end of the string. 3. All members needed to participate.

Our students met with great success working together to problem solve. Please see the pictures below. We look forward to completing more STEAM activities in the future!!
