Cooperatively Digging Deeper into Hatchet

Our class thrives during group projects! Recently, students were split up into groups to identify 4 different story elements in Hatchet. Each day we reviewed one of the story elements together. Afterwards, the groups were responsible for identifying that element within their assigned chapter. Along with their choice, the students had to cite evidence from the text which supported their decision. Within each group, every student had a "job". For example, the "Content Checker" was responsible for ensuring that their group accurately determined the story element for each day. They also checked spelling, grammar and punctuation. The final day, each group presented their poster as well as the summary they wrote together to sum up their chapter. I was SO proud of their collaboration and cooperation!
