Persuasive Arguments

Should contact sports be banned for kids under 14 years of age? Should students be allowed to have cell phones? Should dodge ball be allowed in schools? These are a few of the topics the students in room 204 had to great a persuasive argument for! Each student backed up the arguments with various reasons and evidence. Then they had to edit, peer edit and revise their rough drafts. Once their final drafts were completed, students had mini-debates among one another.

To wrap up the event, we had a class debate practicing our persuasion skills. The students voted to debate on the topic of MCAS. It was an interesting debate, filled with passion and good points from both sides!
